Tom Leaird became a diver in 1960 and an instructor in 1969. He opened a dive store part-time in 1970. He retired from business life in 1988 and took on scuba full-time.

Tom has written nine books for the former YMCA Scuba program and has continued with three for SEI and more for PDIC. He continues his pashion for writing materials to teach scuba students at all levels.

spacer-diversHis instructor group has taught over 4500 divers in the Indiana and Ohio area and more than 250 new instructors throughout the USA and Europe.

Now that YMCA of the USA has ended support for the Yscuba program, Tom started a new agency called Scuba Educators International and more recently purchased PDIC International.  These training agencies are operated out of offices located in the Underwater Service building in Muncie, Indiana.

SEI and PDIC have instructors in 25 countries and more than 30 states in the USA. See Scuba Lessons for more information on this new agency. In Indiana, we are known for service to our customers. We provide support services for lessons in Muncie, New Castle and Anderson YMCAs plus three in Indianapolis area and others around the mid-west. We also support Ball State and Anderson Universities' scuba programs.
