Tom Leaird started his scuba career in 1960 as an Open Water Diver. From there he became an instructor in 1969. He  opened Tom Leaird's Underwater Service part time in 1970 and in 1988 Underwater Service became a full time operation. First operated as a Yscuba Dive Center. Then in 2008 when The YMCA of the USA ended the program it was offered to Tom and became Scuba Educators International. PDIC was purchased in 2011 and merged with SEI. TLUS teaches local recreational divers at four different locations in East Center Indiana. Scuba Training and other services are provided to local Police and Fire Dive Teams. 

Underwater Service also provides support to Ball State and Anderson Universities for their scuba programs.
